Was he angry at a teammate? Curtis Jones’s emotional reaction after Liverpool’s win over Wrexham spotted

As Liverpool picked up a narrow 1-0 win over Wrexham in their second pre-season friendly before the 2026/27 season, Curtis Jones had an interesting outing after being substituted in to play in the second half.

The 25-year-old had a pretty decent outing for the Reds, being able to complete the majority of his passes and also nailing 5/7 long ball attempts to help his side control the might of the possession in the second half and ensure that the Championship side did not get the upper hand in the midfield.

However, it appears that the midfielder was not happy at something about the second half after the game ended with the Reds clinching the win thanks to Rio Ngumoha’s winning goal. After the match, a fan caught the English midfielder being quite animated near the Liverpool dugout in an interaction with teammates.

The 25-year-old midfielder looked to be agitated at something that happened in the second half and seemingly having a bit of an argument with Dominik Szoboszlai as well. However, Jeremie Frimpong arrived at the scene to calm Jones down and urge him to regain his senses.

Irrespective of that, Jones appears to have been really annoyed about something about the game – perhaps something that Szoboszlai did that he didn’t really like and he appears to have been quite perturbed. Even the fan recording the incident could be heard stating ‘Bro Curtis is pissed off’ and detailing that the midfielder didn’t seem pleased from where they were seated.

Jones has been at the centre of some transfer rumor drama throughout the summer of 2026. He has been linked to a possible move to Serie A giants Inter Milan for a few months now, but nothing has advanced in that manner as Andoni Iraola appears to be interested in keeping the midfielder as part of his squad heading into the 2026/27 Premier League campaign.
