‘I’m really excited for what Iraola will bring to the team’: Ryan Gravenberch
Ryan Gravenberch has expressed his excitement about working under new Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola after returning to club duty during the Reds’ pre-season tour of the USA.
The midfielder linked up with the squad this weekend following his involvement with the Netherlands at the World Cup and has already been impressed by the ideas brought in by Iraola and his coaching staff.
“Yes, I’m really looking forward to it. Just the principles that he has, with the intensity he plays, what he did with his former club – he did a really great job. So, I’m really excited [for] what he will bring to the team,” he said.
The 24-year-old also praised Iraola’s work at Bournemouth, where the Spanish coach guided the Cherries to strong performances against top Premier League opposition.
“I was really impressed. I think they ended up behind us last season. With Bournemouth it’s a really great job. When we played against them it was always a tough game, so I think he did a really good job and hopefully he can do it here as well,” Gravenberch stated.
Gravenberch also highlighted the positive atmosphere around the Liverpool squad since Iraola’s arrival, with players enjoying the intensity and quality of the new training sessions.
“Yeah, I think everyone is happy. Everyone is happy to be here. I spoke with a few of the lads and they said the training sessions are really nice. They are intense as well, but really nice. So, yeah, everyone is excited, I think,” he added.
