Chelsea set to announce new manager within 24 hours of Manchester City draw
Calum McFarlane’s singular game in charge of Chelsea ended far better than any Blues fans will have expected it to.
Chelsea nicked a point from the Etihad thanks to Enzo Fernandez’s last-minute equaliser, seeing them walk away with a 1-1 draw.
McFarlane’s substitutions certainly made an impact on proceedings in the second half. The introductions of Andrey Santos and Liam Delap bolstered their performance.
The performance showcased there is plenty of talent to work with for whoever the new permanent manager is going to be for Chelsea. Liam Rosenior has been named the favourite since Enzo Maresca was sacked.
Liam Rosenior to be announced Chelsea manager on Monday
The Strasbourg manager oversaw their 1-1 draw with Nice in Ligue 1 on Saturday, but seems as if he is on the brink of becoming the new head coach at Stamford Bridge.
Journalist Julien Laurens has stated that Rosenior has already arrived in London, where he will sign his contract to become the new manager.
He said: “Liam Rosenior arrived in London this afternoon. He will sign his Chelsea contract and his appointment should be announced tomorrow.”
Despite the strong showing from McFarlane, it was likely made clear to him that he would not be in line for the permanent gig.
Rosenior ready to get the best out of two Chelsea players
Santos made a real impact off the bench for Chelsea, and he will be one of the players who is delighted to see Rosenior walk through the door.
The Brazilian enjoyed an excellent loan spell at Strasbourg under the Englishman, even being named captain on occasion.
Liam Delap has made a real impact off the bench!
Would you start Delap against Fulham on Wednesday?
