Liam Rosenior admitted he\u2019ll make no excuses about starting mid-season, but pleaded with fans to give him a chance.<\/p>\n
Having been announced as Chelsea\u2019s new head coach on Tuesday, Rosenior faced the media for the time on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n
The 41-year-old watched Chelsea lose 2-1 to Fulham at Craven Cottage from the stands, and will take charge of his first game against Charlton in the FA Cup third round on Saturday evening.

Rosenior knows he\u2019s got a tough job on his hands, and coming in mid-season only makes things more difficult, especially with the games coming thick and fast for the remainder of the month.<\/p>\n
The Blues currently sit eighth in the Premier League, and are on a run of one win in their last nine games, with the battle to make Champions League football very much on.

Rosenior will be under pressure to hit the ground running, and the quickest way to win fans over is by getting results, and he insisted he wouldn\u2019t be making excuses about starting mid-season.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not going to make excuses about starting mid-season,\u201d he said as quoted by Give Me Sport.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m here because Chelsea is expected to win, rightfully so, every game that they play.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019ve seen the appointments of managers in this league and in Europe: if you don\u2019t win, you\u2019re in trouble.<\/p>\n
\u201cI need to manage to win in the short term, but also I need to have an eye on the long term so we can be successful over that period.\u201d
\nChampions League qualification vital for Chelsea<\/p>\n
The aim at the start of the season was Champions League qualification and going on deep cup runs, and that\u2019s unlikely to have changed because Rosenior is now in the dugout.<\/p>\n
Chelsea have reportedly told Rosenior Champions League qualification is \u201ccritical\u201d and he\u2019s got to get Chelsea on a run of form they\u2019ve not shown all season if they want to achieve it.<\/p>\n
